Why we started this
We kept seeing the same thing: a small business with no website at all, or one that hadn't been touched since it was built, because the quote to fix it started at a few thousand pounds. For a business just getting going, or one watching every pound carefully, that's simply not money that's sitting around.
A website shouldn't be a luxury reserved for businesses that can find a big lump sum up front. It should be as ordinary and affordable as any other monthly cost of running a business. That's the whole idea behind Greensand: a proper, professional website, paid for the way you'd pay for anything else you rely on every month, with nothing to find before you start.
Who's actually behind it
There are two of us. We build every site ourselves, we answer every email ourselves, and there's no layer of account managers or salespeople between you and the people doing the work. When you get in touch, you're talking to whoever is going to build your website, not someone who'll pass your message along to someone else.
We deliberately kept it small. It means we can move quickly, keep prices honest, and actually know the businesses we're building for, rather than treating each one as another line in a spreadsheet.
How we work
Everything happens by email. That's a choice, not a limitation — it means every request is written down, nothing gets lost in a phone call nobody wrote notes on, and you get a considered answer rather than whatever comes to mind first. We reply quickly, so it never feels like waiting on hold, just without the hold music.
We use modern tools to work efficiently, then spend our own time where it actually matters: making sure what we hand over looks right, reads well, and does what a small business actually needs it to do rather than what looks impressive in a demo.
What we won't do
We won't sell you more than you need. If a simple five page site does the job, that's what we'll build, and we'll say so plainly rather than talking you into something bigger. We'd rather have a client for five years on the right plan than oversell someone once and never hear from them again.
